Custom studio cakes evolve from your own sugar fantasy, a theme, a
color scheme, a feel or even a picture which can be tailored to fit your
vision. Through client-chef conversations, we get to know you and your
design wishes and then translate those into a sketched design. The fun begins
when the cake comes alive through pastry techniques such as pulled, poured
or pressed sugar, modeling chocolate, pastillage and fondant sculptures,
colored white chocolate artwork or intricate royal icing detail work. But
the range of techniques doesn’t stop there, ideas borrowed from faux
finishes such as ragging, stenciling and trompe l’oeil can be combined
with raised relief work to make your cake truly one of a kind.
Custom studio cakes can be ordered through a one-on-one consultation,
over the phone, or by email. The lead time is typically 2-4 weeks,
but earlier is always better especially for wedding cakes. On the
other hand, there is always the possibility of a last minute “panic
attack” order.
When contacting us, please have the following information ready:
- Your name
- The date of the event
- How many people will attend the event
- The event location
- Your email address and phone number
Any ideas you have for the design – if you’re totally lost, don’t worry, the chef will help – but any direction you can provide to begin the process is always greatly appreciated.
For wedding cakes feeding over 75 people, a design/tasting appointment is required. To set up an appointment, there is a $35.00 nonrefundable deposit, payable by cash or check, required to secure the chef’s time. If you place an order with us, the $35.00 will be deducted from the cost of your cake.
A 50% deposit is required to reserve your date; the balance is
due at least two weeks prior to the event. Payment is currently
available only by check or cash. Cake orders placed less than
two weeks before the date require payment in full at the time
of ordering. There is no refund on orders cancelled within 5 days of
the event.
Wedding cakes begin with a base price per person which includes white
or yellow cake, a standard, smooth butter cream finish, appropriate
borders and a matching fondant covered foam core board base. Anything
added beyond the standard finish, such as rolled fondant or handmade
flowers, design details and sculptures, chocolate, or fillings (such
as fruit mousses or curds) is additional. Think of the basic cake
as the canvas and then begin creating your masterpiece based on your
dreams.
Wedding cake base starting prices:
1-100 servings: $2.75 per person
101-300 servings: $2.45 per person
301 servings or more: $2.25 per person
Other custom designed studio cakes begin at $75.00.

Yes. Delivery fees are calculated by distance traveled. Cakes that are not sensitive to transport, that have minimal fragile details, can be picked up by the client. However, keep in mind the old saying, “There are only two people who can be trusted with transporting a wedding cake – the person who made it and the person who paid for it!”
